Unless you've already begun the process, @karrob3 , start with reading the get started section of the public mobile website.

https://www.publicmobile.ca/en/bc/get-started

Essentially the first step is getting a Public Mobile SIM card (can usually get FREE at Walmart if they do the activation there, or through Public Mobile, London Drugs, or Canadian Cell Supplies).

Make sure to use a referral code on the referrers self serve page  (if you know someone currently using Public Mobile) so you both get rewarded for doing so.

Also, before beginning the activation process, you may want to sign up for the Lunar New Year's promo, which has been extended.  Wait for the promo code to be e-mailed to you to use on the activation [you'll get a 1GB free data add-on for 8 months!!!]:

Flash Sale (publicmobile.ca)

Then have your old Koodo account information (account name and account number of Koodo service) on hand to complete the porting process after you have completed the activation.

@karrob3 ,

Obtain Public Mobile SIM card then activate it with a new number here: https://activate.publicmobile.ca/

Transferring A Number From TELUS Or Koodo (Including Formerly PC Mobile)?

If you wish to transfer an existing number from TELUS or Koodo (including formerly PC Mobile), you will need to first complete your activation with a new number, then reach out to our Moderator team here in order to transfer your existing number to Public Mobile.

@karrob3

Just wondering if you got a PM SIM card? If not, it will be quicker to buy one from London Drugs, Walmart, Mobile Shop (at Superstore) or online at Canadian Cell Supplies.
If you order from PM, it will take about 3-4 weeks to arrive.

You follow the prompt to port your old number when you activate the PM SIM.

Keep your old SIM in the phone and wait for your old carrier to send you a text confirming you are porting you number over to PM.

You might want to get a referral for PM (that will give you a $10 one time credit) then open an account and take a PM number. Then keep your Koodo account open and then do the port. Doing the port from Koodo to PM will close your Koodo account.

To do this, you'll need to open a ticket by going to https://widget.telus.tiia.ai/publicmobile/publicmobile.html.  Once there, type in "port request".
