@Clive2 You may transfer your Bell (any for that matter) number, BUT ONLY if the line is active. Do not cancel it, that will happen automatically. You may request the transfer during activation of your PM SIM, but I recommend doing so by first taking a temporary number and porting after your PM account is functioning properly.

Some, perhaps, useful info: https://productioncommunity.publicmobile.ca/t5/Getting-Started/BE-PREPARED/m-p/112014#M20827

@Clive2

You do need active bell number to transfer/port your number.  Once it is ported, the Bell account is automatically closed.  No need to close it yourself  Bell will send you a final bill after a few weeks.

Here is an article on porting:

https://www.publicmobile.ca/en/ns/get-help/articles/choose-your-phone-number

Your Bell account will close automatically when you port your number to PM.

@Clive2 Yes you can keep your old number. Yes you must keep your Bell account open.

You should activate your sim with a new number and then port your old number in using http://selfserve.publicmobile.ca. This will provide you the most successful transfer.
