phopper

Hi - New PM user today. Incoming calls are not working and defaulting to previous supplier voicemail (Virgin), all other services are fine (text, data, outgoing calls).

Please advise, thanks.

New sim never takes a day to start working. It works right away or something is wrong.  Incoming will only work after number port is done.

New Account as of noon yesterday - all services seem fine with the exception of incoming  calls going to previous providers voicemail (Virgin). The “community” has recommended I wait for 12 hours and contact a moderator. I tried the suggestions per sim and battery removal. Unfortunately, the moderator (s) have yet to respond to my two emails? Any thoughts ?

Hi there!  I am a newbie as well....and also has been over 3 hours for me.  But I see there's no worries!!  Just a little more time!  They shouldn't give that 2 hour time frame though.  This is my ONLY phone so was a tad freaked out til I saw this post.  Love seeing the instant responses!  Puts me at ease a lot more.  Thanks guys!!  Looking forward to jumping in soon!

It's actually not unique to PM, it's that way for any port.

Mobile to Mobile are usually faster, sometimes 30 minutes sometimes 12 hours, but not usually more than a day.
Landline usually takes 2-3 Business Days (so it's safer to say up to a week).

VOIP or other such services not described above usually also take a week.

The following is based on what the Escort Driver told me while we worked at Operation Red Nose so take it as just that, second hand information given to me by the owner of a Rogers authorized dealer. The reason why ports can take a while is mostly due to the previous carrier having to verify your account is in good standing then releasing their hold on the number and closing your old account. Mobile to Mobile is pretty much automated and is done in batches every hour but also has the lowest processing priority in their queue (new activations have highest priority so if there are a ton of activations to process the system processes those first, then the terminations/outbound ports.).That landlines typically have a manually processed step (to give them a chance to try to win you back) before they are cleared, and I have no idea why VOIP takes that long as he doesn't deal with those.

Probably another hour or two and it should be all sorted out. No need to message the mods at this time and no need to reach out to Virgin.

i signed up yesterday and my incoming calls weren't working either. once you get an email saying your phone line has been transferred successfully your incoming calls will start working. mine took about 30 mins to get after i signed up.

Thanks, I’ve tried the simm removal and shutdown recommendations. I may need more

time for the port to finalize.

@phopper  Welcome to public mobile glad to hear things for the most part have been going well. Have you tried to pull his sim card and restart? Some ports take a little longer than others.

If there was a problem during porting or its been more than 12 hours you will want to message the moderator team. Only the first port request can be done by the customer.  Send a private message to the public mobile moderator team. Click this to message them.

@phopper

Porting isnt instant...give it some time to complete.

This is perfectly normal for a port. Give it half a day for mobile to mobile. The incoming are still going to your old SIM.
