New account NOT a port, can call out local and text but not incomming

Hello, new user here, just activated today.  I have a completely new account number, no ports at all.  and i was reading through the posts and apn settings etc. to make sure i have everything set up. I have an unlocked motorola g7, and i seem to be able to call out to local numbers like my bank etc, i can text, however anyone who tries to call me gets an msg and the call cannot go through.

 

i have taken out the sim card replaced it shut on and off the phone.  Browsed the forums found some posts about an outage in Ottawa and how swapping LTE to 3G made a difference and tried that as well but still no incoming.

 

Anyway i can get a bit of help here? its been all afternoon since i activated and i can't use my phone and i have a job interview tomorrow. Thanks!

Mods sent a ticket to tech support last night, and they did something during the whee hours and today my phone works.

 

So thanks all for the suggestions and stuff 🙂 the help was very much appreciated! I'm just glad i did not have to reset my phone!

Hopefully, by now the Moderators are helping you out OR you are receiving calls,

 

If not working yet, try a RESET of your Network Settings.

so can you try with another device
put it your SIM card in another phone and check it out
maybe your device need a factory restore settings.

 

and when you changed to 3G  to you do a reboot your phone.

 @Kimbear : Just some dumb ideas...Do Not Disturb? Blocked contact? Call forwarding going nowhere? Can you call somewhere else in Canada? Or toll free? Is that texting both in and out?

I tried swapping it to 3G as i was reading some older msgs about an Ottawa issue a couple of weeks ago, which happens to be where i am, well Nepean, so i did that as well, then rebooted my phone same message. I also tried turning mobile data / wifi / etc all on / off. Still nothing.

Attempting to call a line not configured for incoming messages is what my husband was getting when he tried to call me. Nothing was going to voicemail as i hadn't had a chance to even set that up yet.

can you do try reseat the SIM card

1.power off your device

2.take out the SIM card,

3.wipe it clean SIM card,

4.put it back and power on,

5.toggling airplane mode off/on,  

 

it happened sometime you know, A normal reboot without reset, didn't work. At least try it,

only work after reseating the SIM card.

 

can you try it selecting the network to "3G ONLY"

what is mean for Rebooting the phone means to turn off your phone and turn it back on.

thank you for helping me navigate that. the chatbox is a bit awkward to use 🙂 It was quite a few hours ago and i have turned the phone one and off quite a few times since.  I did submit a ticket thanks to your help. much appreciated!

What is the message that your callers hear? Is it to leave you a voice message or something about the number not being in service?  For the second type of message, that would be related to any of y our device's settings as that would be an account issue.  Calls going directly to voicemail could be a network issue or phone settings issue.

how long you have activated the account ?

 

on a good day, it should be done almost immediately.  But there has been some days that they have delay in activation and users experienced the incoming issue like you

 

if you have activated for less than 2 hours, you can try reboot your phone every 15 mins for an update.  

 

If it is longer than 2 hours, i guess would be time to open a ticket with mod and confirm:

(After you open a ticket with mod, please monitor your Community inbox, envelope on the top right.  Mod will communicate with you via messaging within Community)
