My phone number changed itself after I ported please help

@Damilola from what you posted, your port may have failed, and you were assigned a temporary number. If your old providers  account is active, you can resend your information and ask the moderators  to report your number. Before you do this, contact your old provider and see if there is a port block or something preventing the port. Once this is cleared up.

Contact the moderators and ask them to port your number.  Type " Port Request " and follow the prompts to get to one. Give them the name on the account,  number to port and the old providers account number. 

There are 2 ways to contact the Moderator Team:

  • Faster response- Get help with your account the easy way by starting a conversation with our virtual assistant, SIMon. It’ll take you to relevant help articles, or if it’s something more urgent, it can help you submit a ticket to the Moderator Team. Click here to get started.
  • Slower- Alternatively, you can send a private message to the Moderators by clicking here. You’ll need to be logged in to your Community account for the link to work.

Once connected to Simon, you will be asked to log in again with your community user name and password.  Please do, this allows you to continue and send your message.
- Check your private message sent box (click on the envelope top right of your screen) to make sure the message was sent.

- Keep an eye on the envelope top right of your screen.  The mods answer will show up there.  When it does, you will be asked to verify your self service account, with your password and login. Doing so allows the process to continue. Stay safe. 

 

Please note: If your old providers account is closed you have lost your old number.

So this is how poet in works.

 

when you are signing up and you ask for your number to be ported in, for it to be successful you have to make sure that you do not have any overdue bill owing to the provider that you are leaving. If you do have any overdue bill make sure it’s paid or else your old provider will not release the number since it it theirs. if this is the case PM would have to give you a new number because the company denied. 

so just make sure that is not a factor

Could you please provide further details.

 

You signed up and during signup you ported your number from another provider. Or did you sign up with a temporary number and then contacted the moderators to port your number?

 

How long ago was this?

What company are you porting from? Is that account still active?
