Why PM plans and add-ons are cheaper than other companies and seems services work very good.

Despite what @computergeek541 has to say about pm's plan prices they are still competitive with their third tier rivals in chatr and lucky. Two things separate public mobile from other providers :

  1. The online only service model. Having no call centre means pm is able to drastically lower their overhead costs. In addition to this they have employed the community to help with customer service. The community is exceptionally unique as it is unparalled in its information, helpfulness, guidance and discussion. There is no other mobile provider community that comes close to providing the service and support to fellow customers and the moderators. Public mobile would be nothing if they did not have the community they helped create to be the backbone of their service model.
  2. Rewards. The four different rewards public mobile offers sets them apart from all other providers. The two basic and easiest to acquire autopay and loyalty come with no strings attached.
  3. Autopay :  Unlike other providers who offer an "autopay" bonus you often must allow them free range to charge extras to your card, you cannot pay with other methods, you must maintain a positive balance etc... At pm that is not the case simply register a valid card at the time and whether you ever need to use it or not as long as it sits on your account you get the $2 autopay reward. It could later expire, be on hold, stolen ( from you not by you), cancelled, over the limit, lost or only have $0.01 balance. As long as you don't need to use it to pay in any of these conditions and you pay by voucher or instant top up you're getting that $2 reward.
  4. Loyalty : "Good things come to those who wait." While other providers have loyalty departments which should be renamed "negotiation departments" public mobile pays you for your loyalty. $1 per month after each year you stay with public mobile up to $5 per month. These two rewards add up to $7 off your bill monthly after 5 years. If you are on the $15 plan that nearly halves the cost of your plan. How many people can say that they cut their bill in half (after switching to pm...lol) by doing nothing but be a customer....oh and they pay $8 per month for their cell phone service. But wait it gets better.....
  5. Referrals: Refer a friend, family member, colleague, a stranger in the line at the electronics counter, etc..... this reward is almost limitless but due to some keeners pm has limited to a maximum of 110. At $1 each per month I don't think its even possible to spend that much credit per month unless you need a lot of extra data. Needless to say this is the most lucrative of all of the rewards offered by public mobile and the way to guarantee yourself a drastically reduced plan cost or a $0 bill. (Yes I have two of those which is helped by the last reward.)
  6. Community : By participating in the community and learning at first and then helping out others your contributions are weighed against all the other members calculated by the top secret formula ( kinda like the Colonel's 11 herbs and spices) and each month pm surprises you with a reward ranging from $1 or $2 (these are most likely) to $5, $10 or $15 (almost impossible) and $20 which is reserved for oracles who serve a great purpose for the community in an almost thankless "job" capacity that takes a very unique and dedicated individual to carry out. Sometimes they may not think so but we do admire and respect them for all they do for the community.

There you have it...what enables public mobile to offer great service at low prices...saving you money!

PM's plans (TELUS, Koodo) are comparable to other provider 3rd tier providers, Lucky (Bell, Virgin) and Chatr (Rogers, Fido).

Where PM takes the cake, is it's system of rewards.

The entire concept of Public Mobile is to operate at reduced costs and in return, to offer good prices.  Lately, Public Mobile's plans have no been very good, and betters price plans are available elsewhere.  Where Public Mobile shines is with offering reward discounts.
