Domestic roaming?

My spouse's contract is nearly up and I'm trying to convince to go to PM.  Talking to a cell phone sales associate was warned that if you leave the local calling area you will be charged for "domestic roaming" (within Canada).  Is this true or was this something from before Telus ownership?

@ighsaw as everyone already mentioned there's no such thing as Canada roaming charges with PM.  Technically there's no such thing as any charges with PM.  Whatever you pre-purchase is the service you will have access to.  If your plan does not include data, then you phone won't be able to use the Internet (unless you're on Wifi).  If you tried using the internet on your phone without pre-purchasing the service,m then the internet just won't work.  If you tried calling an eligible long distance number without pre-purchasing the long distance service, then the call won;t be connected.  PM does not have overage charges or such usage fees.  A lot of people confuse PM with PC Mobile (maybe that's what they were thinking of.

However, please note, that when making an eligible call outside your area code you will get an annoying automated message (i.e. calling from Toronto to Vancouver for example), just ignore the automated message and the call will go through once it's finished.

@ighsaw  Even If it a plan didn't include Canada-wide calling, going to another province still isn't roaming. Roaming is something that happens when a customer's phone connects to a different network. Your location doesn't determine if you are roaming (uess that carrier doesn't have coverage there).  Many people often confuse long distance witrh oaming.

And, as from earlier, Public Mobile doesn't have extra charges.

That guy was confused with FM Freedom Mobile which will charge roaming if there is no FM tower.  PM is Canada wide and is prepaid.  PM does not have pay per use.  Therefore, if you don't pay ahead of time, you will not charge overage.

This is a prepaid service, there's no such thing as roaming charges which would be an additional billed cost. Text and data work while connected to Public Mobile anywhere in the country. Talk depends on whether Canada wide or province wide calling is selected. Canada wide would allow calling from anywhere in the country to anywhere in the country. Province wide allows calling within the originating province of the call only. Long distance minutes can be purchased to supplement the province wide calling feature.

Most PM plans have Canada wide talk so there would be no roaming.

PM is Canada wide. aslong as Telus/Bell have signals there is no roaming.
