Can Data be Timed?

GenieGirl18

Hello,

I was wondering if I can turn off data daily from 10:30 pm to 8:00 am?  I do not want my child to be on the Internet during that time.

Thank you,

Angela

I will suggest getting $15/30 days plan for your child and giving access to home wifi for usage at home. You can restrict access by controlling the device usage from your modem.

Seems like you can't time it on the plan itself, one option is to take the phone away during that time, but if you forget to do that once, you'll keep forgetting it. The better option would be installing an app that times out network connection or even a screen timeout app.

The wifi on the computer turns off at 10 pm.  But the cellphone has data that doesn't need wifi.  I couldn't find anything in the account to turn off data hence this post.  Thank you!! 🙂

@GenieGirl18 just suspend their whole service, use the "lost and found" in self serve and then just turn it back on in the morning haha. who do they need to call at 10:30pm anyways. just tell them you don't know what's going on... there must be something wrong with public mobile. 😂

@GenieGirl18 There are apps that will allow you to do what you want. Check out here for some:

@GenieGirl18 you can do this with various apps that you will need to load on your child's device.  I have a few kids so I know your dilema. 🙂

Depending on how savy they could figure it out fairly quick though. Although some of these apps like covenant eyes, allow you to block websites and time on the internet and you have to actually call into their call centre to remove the app and you also get an alert if they try to remove the app.

You can check out the website here:

@GenieGirl18 Some phones may have parent control or digital wellbeing. It can protect your child from using data. But it depends on the model of your phone. PM itself can't time your data until you used it up yourself before cycle renews.

HI @GenieGirl18

I don't think this is possible under Public Mobile. Data is set for 30 day plans with no interruptions.

You will have to rely on your phone to do that

Check if your setting have digital wellness and parental control

There may be apps for there that do that too

With some routers you can program times the internet will turn off.  Some can even do it by device.

There is no setting to turn off data in self service. You will have to take his phone away. You can turn cell data off on the phone, but your child might turn it back on again if they know how.
