Activating data on Galaxy s3 mini 18200N

Hi, I am trying to activate data on my phone. I have followed the instructions and entered the APN information (a few times) and have not been able to activate data. Appreciate anyhelp/suggestions. Thanks.

Thanks, I have entered the APN details and still no luck. I could previously make calls but now have seem to have lost that ability. Looks like a new phone is in order. Thanks again.

Make sure the APN setting exactly matches the following:

Name: Public Mobile

APN: sp.mb.com

Proxy: Leave blank

Port: Leave blank

Username: Leave blank

Password: Leave blank

Server: Leave blank

MMSC: http://aliasredirect.net/proxy/mb/mmsc

MMSC proxy: 74.49.0.18

MMS port: 80

MCC: 302

MNC: 220

Authentication type: Leave blank

APN type: default,mms,agps,supl,fota,hipri

APN protocol: IPv4

APN roaming protocol: IPv4

Bearer: Unspecified

MVNO type: GID

MVNO value: 4D4F

 

Don't forget to save these settings and then select this APN as the active one.

 

Could also try Nework reset.  If that does not work, even a factory reset.

Since it is missing the 850 band, your phone might not be ideal for Public mobile.  It also seems not to have any 4G bands.  Data may not work....

Log into self serve to see if you bave any data left or if it's all used.

I'm also wanting to know if calls and texts are working. @srlawren said no 1900MHz 3g, but the specs I saw said no 850 either.  If that's right, this phone won't work.

 

If your calls are working, the phone is compatible. Try APN type of default.

@LMATZ if GSMAreana is correct, your phone (https://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_i8200_galaxy_s_iii_mini_ve-6190.php) is lacking the 850MHz 3G frequency.  That plus 1900MHz are required for adequate coverage.

@LMATZ , you likely need to set up the APN on the phone.  Check out this help page.
