Enable Send as SMS

Test send/receive text messages

yes i do have data.  send as SMS enabled.

Do you have data on your pm plan?

If not, you iPhone must have iMessage enabled.  iMessage needs data.  SMS uses voice channel to send text without data.

Settings --> Message --> enable Send as SMS
