out of data?

I just recently paid my bill and a couple of days later said used 75 percent of my data. Two days later, I am out of data? How could that be? I have never run out of data. Now what? Where do I buy more data? I have never had to in the 2 years I have hd this phone?

If you have been using your phone for 2 years w/o exhausting your data, you can verify a few things:

1) Check the Data&Add-ons usage in your account to see if indeed there is no data left. Sometimes you can not trust the texts you're getting.

2) If all data is gone , check your phone for the odd chance that some malware has been downloaded or installed without your knowledge. That has happened to me and 250MB of data are gobbled up in a couple of minutes.

3) If you need more data, you can either ask Customer Service to renew your plan early or buy Add-ons like $15/1GB (either in your self-serve account or by calling 611 from your phone)

@terrybev  are you on Android?  If so, you can go to Mobile Data, change the cycle start date to the beginning of the current cycle and then it will show you how much data was used since the beginning of this cycle and which app used the most data.  You can then confirm if the data usage make sense.

Install an app to track your ‘live’ usage so you can keep track.

Public Mobile are 30 day plans (not monthly).

If you are android, try this one:

Data Witness app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/detailsid=com.iwik.datawitnesspm&hl=en_CA&gl=US

I use this one myself and it gives me what I need from it.

You could also check out Data counter widget: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.roysolberg.android.datacounter&hl=en_CA&gl=US

If you are an Apple user, I am sure there is a 30-day app that is available as well.

Sometimes are phones are set to data limits, that can notify at certain percentages.

If this was a TEXT you received from Public Mobile check your Self Serve account: https://selfserve.publicmobile.ca/Overview/

and ensure the Data line is showing 75% used.

You can also purchase data addon under the "Purchase Addons" TAB.

There is a 1GB for $15 available if needed.

What plan are you on? Two days is quick. Is your wifi DIS-abled by chance?

Log into self service and look under My Data & Add-Ons and see if you have any data left? Also look at Usage History to confirm data was not used up. Your counter might not have reset at renewal.  How much data is on your plan?
