new customer, porting land line number

murray70
Great Neighbour / Super Voisin

I set up my new account with a my land line number transfer. got an email message this morning explaining the steps to complete the transfer relating to cell phone number changes. land line numbers don't have sms messaging. It said I have 90 minutes to follow through on the transfer.... then it talks about land lines taking 3-days. should I expect the old service provider to call me or will this go through?. there's no details about land line transfers to complete the move. What do I have do now? just wait... or what?

@murray70

If you have activated a new account and transferred over from another provider, note that incoming calls are usually the last to port over.

  • Landline/voip ports can take 3+ days. Expect a mix of services on the landline and Public Mobile SIM card until port is complete.

When the incoming calls stop on the previous landline account, that is a good indication the port is complete.

If still issues, submit a ticket with Public Mobile representatives (CSA) for help; click this link for issues with transfer/porting of phone numbers over to Public Mobile.

@murray70

Landline transfer to PM can take up to a week to complete.

You won't get a text, so when you're landline stops working, then the port request will be completed.

Then you can call old provider to confirm your account with them is closed.
