if you are new PM subscriber, make sure you removed the old provider sim card. If the old carrier sim card is an eSIM, go to Settings-> Cellular, select the old provider sim from there and toggle off the option "Turn on this line", and then Reset network settings on the phone (To reset the network settings on your iPhone, open the Settings app, tap General, scroll to the bottom, and tap Transfer or Reset iPhone. Select Reset Network Setting)

Have you tried to reboot your phone? How about resetting your Network Settings and then reboot? If you have an iPhone, do you have data turned on as iMessages require data.
