Did you mean:

my phone sent itself a message

Hello everyone, I searched but could not find an answer to this strange occurrence.

A couple weeks ago my phone (Samsung Galaxy A9) sent an MMS message to itself.  It used the phone SMS system, not a third party app.  The message itself read "Please Call: (my number)" and it was sent from my actual phone number.  There are no viruses on my phone as I have a virus checker and it's always up to date.

I logged into my Public Mobile account to check the usage details which say that it was a data event where my phone sent itself an MMS message - no further information.

No harm done, as far as I know, but scary nonetheless.

Has anyone had this happen to them?  Any suggestions appreciated.

Thank you all in advance!

@Normy68 virus checkers don't work...

factory reset your device and choose the apps you install wisely as one of them is probably the culprit

I would stay off the internet until you factory reset your device. if it happens to you again after the reset. I would get rid of the phone

@Normy68 Another possibility could be someome is spoofing your phone number, possibly as a prank.

@Normy68  Access your APP settings (if you are using an Android select the 3 dots and make sure to show system apps) and go through each app to see which third party or system apps have access to your SMS/MMS.
