can't access voice mail

When trying to access voice mail through the voice mail icon on my iphone 8 I get the error message  - error performing request Unknown Error

What is the easiest way to resolve this issue???

Turn phone off then on to try to get the voicemail info propagated from pm.

Try pressing and holding the "1" button, @teacherron 

It should connect you to the voicemail access number for your telephone exchange area (ending in 580-4001)

Check out to see if your phone needs any updates to any Apps, like the phone App.
