calls are fine but no texts

I just transferred my wifes phone from Chatr..All went well  she can make calls but texts can't be sent or received. I don't remember having any lag time after the tranfer when I did mine..best next step?..thanks

well I guess I should have waited 30 mins..alls well. Sorry community...always helpful when needed though
