buying a month of service + sim for use beginning in 6 weeks

I have a family member coming in from out of country in about 6 weeks.

I would like to buy a month of service and physical sim for them to use.

Can i buy a monthly plan and physical sim today, wait until say July 15th and activate on a loaner phone to give to them?

Can i buy a monthly plan and physical sim today, wait until say July 15th and activate on a loaner phone to give to them? - No and Yes. No as in don't purchase the plan today. Yes as in you can purchase a physical SIM card and you can wait till July 15th or whenever to start the plan for them. I would suggest purchasing one from Amazon as it's only $4.99 - Amazon . So go to Amazon, purchase the SIM card, hold on to it till they arrive, download the app on that phone, open the app and sign them up with a plan you think they'd like, then insert the SIM card, restart it and you should be good to go.

There are no expiry date on the SIM.
Of course you can but you might want to check if their phone will download the PM app. Some members indicated that the App Store or the Google Play store won’t download onto their phone depending on what county they are from. Also, PM will only take a Canadian CC to activate the SIM/account so you will have to use your CC.

If this is the case, the workaround is to logout of your account on the PM app and activate their SIM on your phone and you can manage their account on the website.

Then logout of their account on the app and log back into your account.

When they return home. Login their account and disable Subscribe button to close their account after 90 days of nonpayment.

Plan cycle starts on the day when you subscribe .   So buy the SIM card from local Telus or Koodo store ($10) or Amazon ($5) first.  Then wait till closer to July 15, download the app and start the subscription using the app
