Can I set up an account for another person and auto pay with my credit card?

@darlicious- Like I said, for some things. How often do people need to change their cards or passwords etc? I can live with those few times.

Yes but you need to verify to replace your credit card now....with 2FA off for account access.

@darlicious- For some things. The first thing I did with the new system was turn off the stupid 2FA thing.

With pm you will be juggling 2FA codes like an old master jester!

@darlicious- I don't know. I don't test every function every day. I of course have empty gift cards registered and carry a balance. I also use the Koho card on online sites. If I need to make a larger purchase then I switch to a proper credit card. Then put the Koho back.

When did they add the verification to replace the credit card? That wasn't there when they first rolled out the new self serve. I had the hardest time trying to pay a referral's bill after autopay failed without access to the email or the ability to reach them on their phone. We finally connected on Facebook so I could get the verification code to change the credit card to make a payment.
Public Mobile may want tech savvy credit card holders as customers but they need to remember they have many that are not and these superfluous 2FA verifications are overkill! You cannot remove the card yourself. You must verify to replace it and they force pre-authorized payments permission on the card holder in order to pay for your service even if it's a one off. In light of telus's application to the CRTC to charge a processing fee for credit card payments these kind of strong armed tactics are more akin to a classic internet subscription scam than a low cost prepaid provider.
I think they are playing hard and fast with the rules and better be careful as merchants are not supposed to retain card details unless absolutely necessary to carry out business. By not giving the card holder the option to pay and opt out of either pre-authorized payments and/or leaving the card on file is very shady...it's worse than Amazon!!

@dust2dust I think you're right about the lack of concern currently from PM management side.

@dabr- I'm not convinced that PM management has much care or concern over all of this. They just want money. As any business does. They don't care if it's a problem for the customer or they don't want the kind of customer that doesn't have a credit card.

@darlicious Absolutely agree that this unnecessary restriction not allowing customers to remove their CC is unacceptable. Honestly, I can't fathom the reason behind this decision at all but this shouldn't be accepted as normal.
Do we all need to submit tickets to CSA's and ask them to have this restriction removed or is PM management aware and getting it resolved?

Just be cautionary with the limitations to removing your card in future. PM also introduced 2FA verication codes to replace the credit card as well so you would also need access to the email or the phone to replace the card.... ridiculous!!
I have serious issues with the restrictions placed on cards in accounts and makes me wonder if it's to discourage the use of autopay and the payment of the $2 reward for those customers?

yes you can do that but FYI, it's will be wrong to do that because your information credit card will be in your friend account in just case if you not talk with your friend and then what.. that person taken a payment for non your account.
Tipc: you or your friend can purchase credit card vanilla prepaid, to set up new account
your friend not have crdit card yet ok after activation use a vouchers purchase from any stations or Shell,
then add to account by call *611
once connected press (1) then (1) again and enter the 12 digit PIN #,
or from online to buy it here: Top-up Public Mobile Recharge //\\ Recharge For Public \\// recharge.com
and you keep your friend and you not have any problems in the future..

@terrismj Yes, you can. Just remember to update the credit card information when your card expires, or else their account will be temporarily suspended until you do so.

@terrismj Yes you do that but if you need to remove the CC from their account in the future, you will only be able to do it by asking customer service. Hopefully, PM will change that soon and allow us to remove the card ourselves soon.
edit: @terrismj of course, if you're setting up an account for another person, then you wouldn't have access to their account to remove the card (if needed) if PM made the option available unless you will also be managing their account too?
