Hi everyone,

I'm looking at getting a new phone and an international (rather than North American) version on eBay is much more affordable than straight through Samsung. Given the list above, would this work with Public Mobile? Thanks so much for your help!

Edit: According to the listing (from a reliable seller) the phone is brand new in a sealed box.

@LurganIeUk  very very sound advice! Hats off to you for putting in the extra effort and letting the OP know the cautions. Sometimes NEW from the manufacturer is better.

Just a word of caution......there are a lot of items on eBay that say they are OEM but are not and they are clones/fake.  What country is it from? What is the % rating of the seller? How many negatives does the seller have? Be sure to read all of the negative reviews. Also google how to identify a fake for the model you plan to purchase against the specs and pics on eBay. But keep in mind the specs and pic might be correct vs what you receive. What does it cost in Canada? What does it cost from eBay. Is the risk worth the supposed savings.

Edit: I did not realize you are talking about a $1000-$1500 Phone. Now add brokerage fees, taxes and duty. And if a seller bypasses that process....

It is hard to keep the compatibility list up to date with so many brands and models being constantly released.  I think the Samsung S20 was just released last month.

The phone referenced is the Galaxy S20+ but I'm not seeing any of the S20 series phones in the comparability list. I don't imagine anything drastic would change from last year's S10/S10+. Does it take a bit of time for those lists to be updated?

If you click on the link supplied by the Oracle will13am, you can actually self research your particular phone...and you'll see that it'll likely work at PM...but if it's used...make sure it's unlocked and not blacklisted...for your own investment protection.

@DylanT96  I would only caution against used phone, make sure its not black listed, get them to give you the IME#

But other then that this phone will work. You can google phones that work on the TELUS network and it will provide the answer for PM.

@DylanT96 Yes, all is good with this device. Go for it. Just make sure it is unlocked. Welcome to PM and stay safe!

It should be compatible as long as it is unlocked.

Public Mobile uses the following frequency bands:

  • 4G LTE and LTE Advanced: 700 MHz, 850 MHz, 1900 MHz and 2100 MHz downlink and 1700 MHz uplink (AWS).
  • HSPA: 850 MHz, 1900 MHz (UMTS).

Please note that this information is indicative only. Your phone's compatibility with our 4G or 4G LTE networks is based on the radio frequencies of your phone. Public Mobile does not guarantee that your phone will work on our mobile network.

Yes, once it's unlocked and not black listed. Welcome to PM. It's got

4G

  • B2
  • B4
  • B5
  • B7

And

 3G bands:

  • B2
  • B5

Stay safe.

Also, make sure it's an unlocked phone that hasn't been blacklisted. Look atthe top of this page to "Get Started" scroll down to section to "find out if your phone is compatible here".

Welcome to PM.

@DylanT96 , this phone will work perfectly on the Public Mobile service.  These are the bands that this service runs on.
