Hey folks,
I submitted a ticket asking about setting up wifi calling yesterday, and got a bit of good news in the response. No indication exactly when yet, but it sounds like it's coming...
"Unfortunately for the moment wi-fi calling isn't implemented with us, but it will in the nearby future, I can't say when exactly, but the moment it's active you'll be notified. 🙂
Andu"
That'll make such a difference for me as I routinely use my phone in areas with poor cell service, or often no cell service whatsoever on any network, so wifi calling is really important for me to be able to receive calls, texts, 2fa codes, etc.
Just thought I'd share the good news as there's been a number of threads about this previously. I'll believe it for sure when it happens, but I'm optimistic.

hi @Dwayne888
Wifi Calling is nice to have, but if this place does not have it, nothing much you can do.
if you need it, check with Koodo, they have it
for this thread, just ignore it, one day, a real good news thread might come 🙂

Seriously , can the mods edit the subject title? At least remove the "Good news" and ideally replace it with "Bad News"?

Gotcha, thx for clarification

hi @Redstone
you need to understand PM is a "no frills" carrier. You cannot compare Tier 1 with Tier 3. Remember you are paying Tier 3 for cheaper as here they leave every thing bare minimum. No other main Tier 3 carrier offers Wifi Calling
only one you can argue is Freedom, but Freedom is not really a Tier 3 carrier now

Sasktel has VoWiFI

hi @Bucket3
there was never any official promise about Wifi calling. The Wifi calling was just on community members' wish list
in terms of price, it wasn't ridiculous. In fact, PM price is lower to make of some of the services not offered here
and for Wifi calling, which tier 3 carrier has it now? non of the major Tier 3 offers it

How many years on the same promise? 5 now?
They do this to pretend they have competitive prices but who needs 1990 phone service?
Until they create some real competition there will only be lame service and ridiculous prices with little to no data and no WIFI so they can nickel and dime you to death.

@Redstone sad truth, it won't come anytime soon
Consider going Koodo if this is needed

Any update?
I'm very seriously looking to switch to SaskTel as they do have it

@dot7 - How about a $150 cell phone booster you get on amazon? We got one and got from no service within the house to full bars (4) and got 100down and 25 up.

From what everyone said, don't think any of the Tier 3 will offer this any time soon. They try to make Tier 1, 2 ,3 clear differences so they don't overlap the market

I will switch to public mobile as soon as they get wifi calling. We have such a bad signal at our house we can't do without wifi calling, so stuck with Bell.

@BCaravan - I have iOS 26 Beta 4, still no sign of it, but a good thing is that there is iPhone call control. I look for it every time my iPhone updates
07-10-2025 07:32 AM
Is there an update to wifi calling?
06-11-2025 08:19 PM
This is the reason I have service with one of the Tier 1 providers -- wifi calling. We are not close enough to anybody's tower to use our phones in the house. I do have a public SIM in my tablet, but don't use it for calling in my house very often. I do like to be able to take calls inside .... it gets pretty cold to stand in the middle of the front yard in winter just to get a cell.

sorry @Nermal3
Sorry, PM does not have Wifi calling and likley won't.
All the major Teir 3 carriers are not offering this and I doubt anything will change soon
If voice calls is poor where you are, then maybe you need to move to Koodo or Telus which have Wifi Calling for their subscribers

Has there been any recent progress on PM allowing the use of Wifi calling?
Cellular service is crap where I am and being able to use it would be such a huge help. Internet service here is awesome.

Good idea. Unfortunately, many sites I use that require 2FA don't offer that; they want a cell number. I use a VoIP number since I spend a lot of time out of cell range, but I have satellite internet. SMS texts sent to my VoIP number generate an email to me - usually... i.e. that often works, but not always. Some sites' SMS do not play well with VoIP.ms and the texts do not show up, leaving me unable to authenticate. Sigh...

hi @kenwoodward
for 2FA, you should change it to Authenticator app if the choice is there
04-20-2025 01:27 PM
That's no good for 2FA, unfortunately.
03-15-2025 04:58 PM
hi @C1nders if Wifi calling is needed, you will have to change to Koodo or Telus. I don't think PM will have this coming any time
03-15-2025 04:54 PM
This is so badly needed. We are in a remote area and the towers are only Telus and weak at best. Wifi calling has saved us historically

Thank you for contacting us!
I'm Christopher and I'll be assisting you now.
At the moment Public Mobile doesn't offer this feature and I'm afraid we don't have any updates regarding WiFi Calling.
I totally understand what you're saying but we'll need to wait and see.
Most probably, if this feature will be made available, it will be advertised so you'll know about it.
If you have any other questions, I'll be here.
Regards,

Customers support agents would not be able to provide information unless they have been authorized to do so. New features don't get announced by them as that would be handled by a different department.

Unfortunately, nothing has changed and there is no news here.
