VoLTE Support For Moto G Power 2024

Chillforce

Hi All,

I have the Moto G Power 2024, and I've noticed that the IMS Registration shows as "not registered" and internet slows down while making calls which leads me to believe that it is not using VoLTE.

The Telus tool says my device should be compatible with VoLTE, however the public mobile VoLTE page shows older versions of this phone as being VoLTE compatible but not the exact model year of my phone.

Is there some configuration I can try to make this work?

Just to update everyone, it seems that my SIM card had an issue. At the suggestion of a customer support agent I downloaded an eSim and all is well. Thanks for everyone's help.

I messaged @CS_Agent on Sunday and haven't heard back yet.

Is everything ok with Public Mobile...? This really shouldn't be as hard as it is, the device should be on the allow list for VoLTE and I probably just need a network reset or similar assistance.

Thanks, I tried creating the APN but the issue is still the same. I will message support and see if they can help, thank you for your assistance.

@Chillforce this is a long shot, but you can try manually adding a new APN for ims and see if that works.

The goal is to add this second APN and configure it so the phone only uses it for IMS purposes.

Name: ims

APN: ims

APN type: ims

APN protocol: try IPv6 only first, if it doesn't work, try each of the other 2 options.

Save it but don't select it as your active APN. As long as your phone allows it to be created, that's all you need.

Just a disclaimer, I've only seen this work on a few devices, but it's worth a shot at this point.

In that case, for your specific phone, 4G icon = 3G.

It says 4G when on a call, LTE when it is not on a call

@Chillforce what about when you're not on a call, does it normally say 4G or LTE?

Some phones show 4G icon when it's really 3G.

Thanks, it shows the 4G icon in the top bar during incoming calls so I guess I'm good?

It still says that IMS registration is not registered though so not entirely sure.

I wouldn't worry about that. As long as it says 4G or LTE during a call, your golden! Have a great evening.

Your phone should work VoLTE and don't need to do anyrhing

Try reboot phone and then Reset Network Settings  and test

If you need PM to check and fix, open ticket

Just open ticket with PM using the Orange Chatbot icon on the lower right. (For 2FA when login, you might need to use email to receive if you cannot receive the text on the phone.) Type the question Submit ticket and select Contact Us to get to ticket open screen

Hey @Chillforce

VERY simple test. Turn off bluetooth, turn off WiFi and turn off anything else that limits the icons up top of your phone. Then make a call, maybe to a phone close by or whatever. Don't let it just ring, let the call go through. If you see LTE during the call, you're solid! If you see the phone go from LTE or 4G down to 3G, then, there's an issue.

@Chillforce

if it's not using VoLTE today...it's just not on the whitelist of cells that PM has recognized. Telus and Public Mobile are related but not the same company. According to the whitelist...yours should be ok though.
