Using my Samsung S24 Fe in Alaska

Hi,

I read that you need to have VoLTE activated on your phone to have PM service in Alaska.  I don't see VoLTE in my settings under mobile networks.  As this is a new phone I would have thought it would be there.  Does anyone know if this phone will work in Alaska?

@Turk  I don't see VoLTE in my settings under mobile networks

On compatible approved phones it should be enabled by default so there isn't necessarily a setting.  My iPhone gets VoLTE but has no toggle for it.  The S23 is on the list of "certified" phones so S24 should work as @slusagm noted, but you can test it yourself while still in Canada, turn off wifi, turn on cellular data and make a phone call.  The phone should not drop to 3G when you make the call.

hi @Turk

S24FE is a newer phone and it is VoLTE compatible.  So, you will have no trouble using VoLTE there

Hello @Turk

As you stated in your subject line, you have the Samsung S24. It is not on the list but it will work in Alaska. You will just have to turn off automatic in the network settings and pick one of the providers there.

hi @Turk yes, because US had no more 3G and PM only whitelisted some VoLTE phones and not all.  So, what phone you have?

but data should work well in Alaska with AT&T and you can use VoIP app like TextNow to make voice calls using app
