Unable to use old sim card to transfer number

We have an old dead blackberry. We have access to the old sim card but it does not fit into any phone that we own. The previous plan was with Bell. Do we need to get a new sim card from Bell to be able to transfer the old phone number to our new phone? Any other suggestion?

Thank you. The Bell plan is active as the blackberry stopped working a week ago. The sim card does not have perforations and cannot be be made smaller, so will have get a Bell sim card.

Is the plan still active on Bell or at least recently active? If not the number may be lost. If recently active, then get it active again. For SIMs, many SIMs can be broken down to a smaller size to fit more modern devices, there would be little cut marks on it, to break out the smaller size from the larger. Not all cards support that. If that doesn't work, contact Bell to get a new SIM or eSIM as appropriate to get your device going. Once everything is up and running, then you can start looking to port your number to Public.
