Has there been anymore from PM the last few days about restoring and upgrading US roaming service? Not 2 G.

S9 I hope as well but 2G on T Mobile in South Texas is not good. Will switch to AT&T when we get back there in October if they have not fixed the problem. I also got a message from PM saying my plan is no longer any good today. My account online still shows it is the same 60.00 plan with US roam etc. I think perhaps she don't have a clue what she is talking about.

@jyb   What kind of phone do you have?

At the moment, it is better to have some service than no service at all

Again, we hope we will see VoLTE coming to rescue very soon.. hope

I do have the 60.00 plan and 2 G on T mobile is bad voice service in the USA

and  T-Mobile is Freedom mobile like? you meant the coverage is very "spoty"?

I don't recall seeing multiple AT&T options.  On my phone, the manual scan shows every carrier option including ones that I cannot connect to.  AT&T shows as available to connect but it always failed on me.  Not sure why.  T-Mobile worked great either in auto or manual.  The coverage was rather spotty along a somewhat busy highway that went through a lot of towns.

Probably the best course of action both for reliability and cost effectiveness if you are going to be in the US for that prolonged a period of time.

Would be nice to get a definitive answer on VoLTE either way...sigh

@jyb

Do you have the $60 Canada/US Roaming plan? What makes you believe call quality will suffer greatly on T-Mobile's 2G network? What devices are you currently using?

But 2g on T Mobile for voice will be crappy audio. May have to switch to AT&T permanently for Canada and USA. We spend half of our year in Texas so need decent service.

Recently I was in WA for 4 days.  I am not sure why but I could not connect to a single AT&T tower.  It shows up on the list of available carriers to connect to.  T-Mo connectivity can be Freedom Mobile like.

HI @jyb   yes, if you are in US that much, the AT&T plan is much better.

Also, I guess you have a Google Voice setup as well as a backup ?

There has been lots of talk about VoLTE comes to PM this year.  But so far, seems like just rumors and no official words yet

@jyb

The only issue with US Roaming is the inability to use voice services on the 3G network in the US because it no longer exists. Until telus enables VoLTE for pm customers the only options for voice services in the US for pm customers is T-Mobile's 2G network or using a voip provider app with mobile data or wifi.

Rumour has VoLTE being enabled by the end of September but otherwise there is no insider or official info having been released to answer your question.
