Going to Florida for close to a month shortly. I have the $35, 75gb plan from Boxing Day. The plan states Data within Canada, US and Mexico. Unlimited Canada, US and Mexico wide minutes and messaging.
My question is do I have to do anything to the phone settings? Any surprises or gotcha's with respect to roaming, calling home to Canada etc? Thanks in advance.

@scope11 I took a trip to the US last fall and wrote a review of the cell service. Have read here: https://productioncommunity.publicmobile.ca/t5/Get-Support/USA-Roaming-Review/td-p/1263110

@scope11 The VoLTE list is here
https://www.publicmobile.ca/en/on/get-help/articles/volte
Some phones not on the list still work in the USA so if yours isn't mentioned you can try it while still in Canada. Turn off wifi, turn on cellular data and make a phone call. If the phone stays on LTE and doesn't drop to 3G you should be good. This is because the USA shut down their 3G networks two years ago so you need a VoLTE phone to make calls over LTE.

@scope11 Just make sure your data roaming is on. You will receive a SMS when it first hooks up welcoming you to USA and talking about buying an add on. Just ignore it. There is a list floating around here of VOLTE approved phones. If yours isn't on it you may not be able to make / receive voice calls but SMS and data will still work. A free app like TextNow can be used as phone.
