Transferring number from Public Mobile to Telus and cancelling account

Hi, I just requested to transfer my number from Public Mobile to Telus. I was going to go to my account now and cancel my Public Mobile account but it seems I can't access it. Do you know if my account gets automatically cancelled when I transfer my number? I want to avoid being charged by Public Mobile next month.

With porting from PM to Telus, never cancel your original plan as ports auto cancel it for you.

Try this test. Put your PM SIM card in and reboot. Can you see PM at the top of the phone? Can you make a call? If YES then the port isn't complete. If NO then the port is complete and the port is fully complete and your PM account is now cancelled and you will no longer be charged for any services from PM. 

Enjoy your new Telus plan.

In rare instances some customers have been charged even after port out. So keep an eye on your credit card around the time of what would have been your next renewal and watch that a charge doesn't happen. If it does, contact support to have it refunded or I wonder even moved over to your new Telus account.

no need to cancel, and don't 

if porting is all done, if your Telus sim is now getting inbound calls, the porting is completed and your PM account will be closed as well.  All part of the porting

Add:

you can also call 1-855-4PUBLIC and enter your number.  If it cannot find your account, then it is closed and you are all good
