Prepaid (For 3 months) my Public Mobile $40/12 gb plan on August 10. Officialy switched over to the koodo promotion September 10. Got about $80 remaining on my Public Mobile account.
Also can't login anymore since my number got ported.
Can this balance be transferred to my koodo account? Can I give this balance to someone else I know thats on Public Mobile?

@Anonymous
It is accurate
I think you are getting hung up on the "charges" part
They still charge you, just as a prepay service you are prebuying the minutes
When you make the call, they are deducting from that amount

Well...there's another place where the "long distance" information needs to be updated. So it's currently a bit of an outdated document. Whether this topic is still valid in there I'll leave for others.

The Mods sometimes make exceptions (they want us to be happy and all) but this is totally off the record

I find myself in a situation where I disabled my autopay and put my account in suspension during renewal and PM still swallowed my credit. Shouldn't i know be in a position to at the very least have my account credited back regardless if then port my number over or not?
I am waiting for the @CS_Agent to provide an official answer. I suggest they should confirm your anwer as well to make it "official"

This isn't a postpaid service at Public Mobile. If you buy service, it's in 30-day or 90-day prepaid agreements. If you port out your number, your active account is suspended, and all service is turned off as you've moved your phone number out.
This is no different than going to a restaurant, ordering the Combo #2 with cheese and crispy bacon, a soft drink and the fries. You pay for the service before you enjoy the product. If you leave early and haven't finished eating you can't get a refund, and sadly, there's no take-out container at this restaurant.
What you leave behind is discarded.

@Bahamas If your PM plan is active, which it must be to port-out, any unused service is lost the moment the transfer completes.

It depends what you're asking.
If you're asking about lost service that you've paid for, such as "I just renewed 3 days ago, paid for my 90 days, and ported today. Can I get refunded for the 87 days I didn't use?" the answer is a flat-out absolutely not. There is no refund for unused portions of your billing cycle on a pre-paid plan, period. As noted, this is the reason Telus includes bill credits as part of the migration offer, to offset these types of "losses".
If you're saying you had an Available Funds balance > $0 and want to know if you can get that back, the short is answer is no. The longer aswer is: if you have a family member that has an active Public Mobile account, you can send the moderator team a private message and ask for the available funds balance to be credited to thier account. I don't know that they are under any obligation to do this, but have been known to in at least some cases in the past. It's worth a polite message to try requesting it, at least.

Official answer is balance is lost
Some people have asked to transfer balances after the fact
Manual exceptions just create more work for them imo

@Zhuoyu why did you not ask these questions before porting? are you saying you had an $80 positive account balance + 2 month of service you wanted refunded.
I guess as mentioned the cheaper plans and 180 bonus will have to make up for your loss.

No, you can't. There is a reason koodo offers $180 bill credit.

Once you transfer out the account is gone positive balances forfeited.
@NDesai wrote:When you port out to another carrier, your public mobile account will automatically close and you will forfeit the balance you have.
@Shiniestknight wrote:Unfortunately I don't think it will be possible, as once your account has been closed, all balance is forfeited. This is made pretty clear. You can message a moderator, but I don't think there is much they can do.
You can try and ask the moderator team Click this to send them a message if they will do anything special for you, but its pre-paid so no guarantee but I hear sometimes they let you "transfer to a friend"
