I know, I've driven some of you nuts with my indecision. Guess what?
I'm still unclear as the benefits of dual since I'll only have one telphone number. Still, it gets mentioned so I fear like I am missing/misunderstanding something.
So anyway, what's the better value here?
I feel like that fist one best, but not certain. And I like red.
Just to be diffucult there are also A52 's Because I like the colours as well
I'm talking myself back to the last one 😂 I think I'm being blinded by colour options.
Really I'm just worried about paying for something I don't need (ie dual or 5 G).
Or am I just over thinking everything??!! 😃

Can;t get the Pixel 3 anyway due to its abysmal sound.

Which the release price or the current price?
Edit:
The Pixel 3 I picked up in the summer from B&H Photo but they only have high end phones now. It's too bad because they had some wicked deals!

@darlicious where are you seeing these prices?
02-19-2022 06:39 PM
Ok I was being a little lazy when referencing the current A3(2) on the market and while there are differences between the two if you look at the specs there are not that many trade offs but the A32 is much better value than the A52-5G ("Why pay for something you are not going to use!"...like 5G?!!) That's all I was pointing out.
Same goes for the pixel 3xl which was google's flagship phone when released about 6 months before the 3a xl with many more features such as an IP68 rating, corning gorilla glass front and back w/ aluminum frame but no headphone jack that's true but with the release price of $1129 for the 64GB version compared to the 3a xl's price of $649 and the screen display and camera specs show the difference in quality.
Despite it receiving its last update recently to be able to pick up a flagship phone for only $249 (and in my case the pixel 3 for $165) the quality of the phone is a stand out. After reading the reviews in the lounge I would be very disappointed with my purchase of the pixel 6 for $799+tax much like you were with the A52-5G at its price.
Whereas I'm thrilled with what I got for $165....the latest and greatest is not always the best or good at all. Just ask all of titanium hip replacements in the dump that only after the third surgery did the tried and true ceramic hip do the trick.

And if that doesn't sell it....the Google Pixel 3xl is passing the bf test with flying colours! I asked how many times he has dropped his phone in the past 5 months......at least 25 times both with and without the case on and it's only suffered a tiny chip on the corner of the screen. It was pristine for an entire month longer than it took for him to splinter crack the screen of his sonim XP-8!?

@Anonymous right? the message indicates it's related to the chipset. I was surprised.
@darlicious I think you're conflating the Pixel 3 XL with the 3a XL
Also you're referencing the A3 but linking to the A32, which I assumed is a step down from the A52.

See you definitely get more bang for your buck with the A3. GSM arena compare tool A3 and pixel 3xl.....

@rossputin : That just can't be right. In this day and age of cameras everywhere, that kind of low resolution is ridiculous. There's gotta be a setting somewhere. Maybe it limits itself due to storage space?? How much onboard ram do you have? Do you have an sd card installed?
I don't do much with my camera. So if I've changed anything I would be surprised. But maybe.

@Anonymous Well isn't that interesting. I ran the same tool on the A52 and got this, and Kinemaster support confirmed it.

great memory @darlicious . But at this point I'm willing to sacrifice the headphone jack. I can always use an adaptor.
02-19-2022 02:53 PM
@rossputin : I'm not sure how to interpret this. I downloaded the app you mentioned. Ran the device capability function and got the following on an A31 and an A32:
Looks to me like the A32 got an improvement.
The A31 is an international version. The A32 is Canadian.

Ok so you would replace your phone with a better one!......without giving up a headphone jack!

Yikes! The A3 actually compares in specs to the A5 but no 4K video but when you compare price it beats A5 for nearly the same specs. It has a very good camera but you can't really compare it with the pixel well you can.....check out my thread in the lounge for that it does hold its own.

You can replace your phone at swiftronics for $249. The pixel 3xl did go for about $1300 when it came out and for $799 the pixel 6 is not that much of an improvement over what you already had at least not for me to pay an extra $550 and you would be giving up the precious headphone jack....🤔🎧??!!

lol. Sure. Hunt away, thanks very much.
I returned the A52 so not keen on the A32
The Pixel 6. Possibly an iphone but a friend may have a lead on one.
As for bricking, dropped from chest heght. yes, I had a case on it.
It was actually cracked before from dropping it two october's ago and yes, I had a case then too. Dropped from waist height. So for anyone interested I don't recommend case-mate.

@softech giving serious thought to the Pixel 6. Thursday I "bricked" my current phone (3a XL). But google has thorughly pissed me off as shipping is free-if you wait OVER 2 EFFING WEEKS!. Otherwise $15 for 6 days. For company of Googl'es resources that seems epically inefficent.
02-19-2022 09:14 AM
@rossputin so, you are just staying with Pixel? or you are now shopping new again?
02-19-2022 02:13 AM
I returned the A52. Not a bad phone but for $500+ I assumed this mid-tier phone would do everything my 2+ year old mid-tier phone did and better. It didn't. For example it would not exceed creating videos via Kinemaster 360p. My old Pixel does 720p and higher no problem.
A few other annoyances.
Just an FYI for anyone else considering it.
02-16-2022 04:08 PM
@runaway Great choice for S20 FE. While A52 is still a solid phone, the S class would still have better features. Plus, I believe you will get one extra full year of OS/Security updates compare with A52.
02-16-2022 04:04 PM
I was also considering between these 2 phones. I was going to go with S20 FE because of the processor which should last longer than the midrange processor on A52. But A52 came out later and should receive longer updates (from launch date). Ended up going with the S21 FE which has a current promo on Samsung Canada website with trade-in. Dual sim and 5G, but it'll be around $700 before tax

Plus with shipping cost, any savings probably isn't worth it.
Authrorized distirubutors don't sell models from other countries. A third party seller on the Walmart site could range from a small businesses to someone selling out of the home and doesn't even sell enough to require a tax number.

For a manufacturer's warranty valid in Canada, the product would have to be distributed by Samsung Canada and sold through official channels.

Ensure that you understand that item is not being sold by Walmart. That seller really could be anyone, and while that's not necessarily a bad thing, the dual SIM card feature gives away that this person isn't an authorized distributor. That doesn't mean that there's anything wrong with this device, but it does mean that Samsung never intended for this product to be sold in Canada. Compatibility with the network may very well be worse and the language setting options often differ. There will also be no manufacturer's warranty, and Samsung Canada won't provide any type of technical support for this product.

True dual SIM phones are rarely a Canadian model or even a North American model but if they are an international model then you shouldn't have an issue but of course double checking the specs is prudent. I bought my dual SIM A3 from foreign electronics* in Vancouver (conveniently around the corner) which assures that it is compatible with Canadian providers and with a warranty.
*After @Anonymous 's and my fact finding mission to Dubai of course....he just took a few more years to pull the trigger on his purchase!😃
