Samsung Galaxy S20 FE (dual vs non)

rossputin

I know, I've driven some of you nuts with my indecision.  Guess what?

I'm still unclear as the benefits of dual since I'll only have one telphone number.  Still, it gets mentioned so I fear like I am missing/misunderstanding something.

So anyway, what's the better value here?

I feel like that fist one best, but not certain. And I like red.

Just to be diffucult there are also A52 's  Because I like the colours as well

I'm talking myself back to the last one 😂  I think I'm being blinded by colour options.

Really I'm just worried about paying for something I don't need (ie dual or 5 G).

Or am I just over thinking everything??!!  😃

True.

A few years back a bought this micromax phone Note4 dual SIM but the APN settings wont save after the reboot. For the days it worked, I was using second SIM slot with micro SD card as additional storage.

@Anonymous Getting another line in future is one thing.

Same as buying what you like instead of what you want.

this is one to his own situation I must say.

@pkaraa : Sure. But could also depend on the plan being paid for and whether one just couldn't resist a promo.

I couldn't resist a 5gb one-time promo a couple years ago. So I use that account as my "data" account. I'm a low usage user. I was getting close to finishing the last Xmas 2gb before going back to the still-present 5gb promo data. And now the new 2gb.

My 3 plans are all on the old $10 plan.

One SIM - unnecessary paying more for dual SIM.

3G/4G usage - paying for 5G.

Its like paying to buy a big drafting printer for home... off course it ll print letter and legal sizes ...

Thank you @Anonymous , @softech & @darkomega .

Terrrific advice and feedback.

After ALLLLLLLLL that I'll probably wait out till the A52 5G is back in stock at Samsung.  With a student discount I can get it for between $441-$466.

Thanks again all.  Really like this community.

@rossputin

visit Here link to you review full information for any device

visit  Here link, to check it all Provider in Canada about compatibility with any device.

Public Mobile uses the following frequency bands:

  • 4G LTE and LTE Advanced: 700 MHz, 850 MHz, 1900 MHz and 2100 MHz downlink and 1700 MHz uplink (AWS).
  • HSPA: 850 MHz, 1900 MHz (UMTS).

@rossputin   dual sim are likely not Canadian model, check the exact model number and confirm if it has the correct band

Dual SIM phone could be use with a PM SIM on one slot and another Data only SIM on another slot  (there are some good data only plans around).

If you don't see it using both SIM slots, I suggest you buy the regular Canadian model, it will work best with all Canadian providers

This year models are likely 5G one, get that one instead.  You don't need it here on PM, but you might be travelling or one day you might go to Telus for its 5G network.  4G model is likely an older year model.

@darkomega and it has a 3 mm jack.  Very appealing.

I own the A52 5G my self and I've been happy with its performance, even though it's a bit overkill since PM doesn't have 5G access, heck none of the 2nd/3rd tear brands have 5G access, only the parent brands do.

Totally fine to "overthink" a phone purchase, it's a pretty important accessory these days and good on you for doing your research.

Look at it this way @rossputin

The device will likely only be with you 3-4 years, after which, you'll part ways with it.

So with that, BE BOLD, go for the red one!!!

@rossputin Dual sim phones are usually for sale in other markets. The LTE compatibility can be worse and there's no factory warranty.

@rossputin

I am a fan of a dual SIM phone. With pm the advantage when travelling only applies in the US since they do not offer any services elsewhere in the world. But if you were to have an extended stay in the US you would be able to continue to recieve pm texts but have a mint mobile plan/sim card in the other sim card slot.

In Canada you could have a second account that you use for data in the second slot. It could be with pm or another provider such as the offerings by Shaw or fido's data account.

Even taking advantage of CCS offer of a 5gb bonus data add on with the discounted activation bundle of the $25 plan means you would pay $20+tax ($21 total since you are in bc) and recieve a total of 7gb of data add ons and 500 international long distance calling minutes. You would refer yourself to recieve a $10 bonus referral credit for that new account that you could then downgrade to the $15 once you recieve the 5gb data add on.

You would also benefit from the $30 bonus referral credit. Taken as whole you come out $19 ahead of the game. Suspend the new account until the extra data is needed or reactivate every 90 days. With the autopay reward the cost to maintain the account is $39 per 360 days. Or with the above promos a total out of pocket cost of $20.

This is how a dual SIM phone can benefit you...

technical specifications ... both options of S20 are overkill.

As you have only one number so check if the second SIM slot can be used for extending the memory.
