I have the US version of iPhone 16 that I got from the US so I have only eSIM option. Somehow, when I log in to the account, it is asking me to subscribe to a plan again

@Pkg   To clarify, you are getting a message that esim is not supported when you download the PM app on the new phone and log in and try to get a new esim?

The Canadian version of the iPhone 16 Pro Max should have a SIM tray where as the US version are only eSIM. You should be able to pop the SIM from the iPhone XS and pop it into the iPhone 16 Pro Max and reboot your phone by powering off then back on. All your account information is in the SIM so transferring is done by transferring the SIM from one phone to the other phone.

Strange that the your new iPhone indicates the SIM is not supported…this message is only on iPhone that are locked but locked phones are not allowed in Canada since December 1, 2017.

@Pkg  So you cannot transfer eSIM from one phone to the other , what you need to do his log into the website or app with your new iPhone 16 and re  buy eSIM to install on new phone . But before you check out and pay the system will detect you are replaying the eSIM on existing account and credit you the $ so it will be free , this will ensure you keep your same phone number and plan

notice “shop SIM card “ tap it and choose eSIM in your account with new iPhone 16 that’s it

Sorry, I didn’t understand the solution provided by you. Can you please elaborate? Please note that I do have the public mobile eSim and not physical sim

@Pkg  .you should be able to take the SIM card out of the iPhone XS and put it into the new iPhone 16 and reboot the phone . Or do you have eSIM if eSIM on. We phone log into your account and buy new eSIM and you will get credit back at check out so will cost you nothing and you will keep same plan and phone number
