Redeeming points for USA travel

I have enough points to get data, calling and text messaging in the US (the one worth 25 pts) but had a few questions! I know my add ons are only valid for 15 days but do I get to choose when the rewards are activated when I redeem? Fore example, I don't leave for the states until next week, but I want to set up the add ons now so that I don't forget to next week. Also will i be able to get text messages from Canada or is it only within the states?

as soon as you successfully buy that add-on, the 15 Days start...so...don't buy until you're out the door, or you can buy in US by stopping at first town with a wifi signal (Walmart) and buy the add-on you want, by logging in to your account.

@Cassandra4  Just redeem the day you leave for the US as the 15 days counter will start as soon as you successfully purchase the add on

The 15 days will start as soon as the add-on is added to your account.  It makes no difference when the other person is sending you a text message from.  Also, while int eh US, a roaming add-on is not needed to receive SMS text messages.
