My mother on PM also got this data usage message! And also a message about having to update her payment card even though it is not expired...

you can just ignore that message. Public Mobile frequently has a hard time disseminating correct information. Soon as they fix one thing, several other things get negatively affected. As long as your talk/text/data work as expected and payment card is valid...just ignore.
