Most important is to LEAVE old SIM in your phone after initiating porting as old company will send you SMS to confirm and you will have about 90 minutes to answer YES on their message.
Do not miss that 90 min window as you will have to start process again or contact MODs. No reason to create headache, just follow the process and be patient.
Then porting will be initiated and in a matter of hours your 'old' number will be ported to PM.
Most likely you will first get ability to send/receive SMS and after a while phone will start working.
Do not panic if phone is not working! It will eventually if you did everything properly.

Hello @Rhyder
Step 1: obtain a Public Mobile SIM card, either through Public Mobile, Retail Stores, Amazon, Canadian Cell supplies, etc.:
https://www.publicmobile.ca/en/bc/get-help/articles/where-to-buy-a-sim
https://canadiancellsupplies.com/
Step 2: Activate the SIM online: https://publicmobile.ca/en/bc/portal/activation
OR, Click this link to use the: Public Mobile Online Activation Assistance
OR, in Retail locations
Step 2, part A: the porting process can be done during activation.
You may also activate with a new number, than do the port from virgin after the activation if you wish as well.
Ensure your Virgin account is ACTIVE when porting.

Generally, porting from other mobile companies is fairly easy. When you activate your PM SIM card, you can initiate port during activation. Your virgin mobile account needs to be active (paid up to date). During porting process, include the following information: Virgin mobile account holder name, VM account number and phone number to be ported. Keep your VM Sim card in your phone to receive the confirmation text (need to respond within 90 minutes). Typical ports take a few minutes to to a couple of hours.
