Hi all, I bought a new esim to put on my Google pixel 7 last night. It's been successfully set up, for the most part, but my texts to friends and family with iPhones are not successfully sending through rcs. I have to go back to my chats, and push every text message through on SMS. my texting app is rcs enabled.
Whats the issue here, and how do I fix it?
Thanks

I can confirm I am having the same issue. Started yesterday after about 5pm EST. Anyone with an iPhone I need to send as SMS. Most android contacts are fine. Cleared the cache and data on the messaging app and it did not change anything. Pixel 8 Pro here. I can see people who message me the messages come in as RCS but will not send

I did a Google search seems that few have this error. You just have to keep trying different things.
Some suggests airplane mode on and off, disable and re-anabling, time.

I chatted previously with these exact same contacts on my galaxy s22 just the night before last. They very likely have it enabled. Note that the biggest hindrance is not the fact texts are not making use of rcs to these contacts, but the fact that they will not send at all unless manually pushed.

Sorry to hear that. As others suggested check if the recipients also have it enabled. Prehaps it's required now.

The newer iPhone have a setting to enable RCS. If it is disabled then it with send SMS on iMessage on their iPhones.
Check to see if RCS is enabled on their iPhone.

The data yes. Cache no So try the cache first.

Will this delete my conversation history?

I'm not sure if this is the issue, because the texts are not defaulting to SMS (they're just not sending, and I have to painstakingly return to my chats and manually push through), and, chatting with these contacts on my galaxy s22 with public mobile, same number, different esim, worked fine. I was able to use rcs with these same contacts.

@Bdem88 , the issue is with your contact using iOS. Google tracks whether the communicating parties have RCS enabled or not. If both parties have RCS enabled, RCS protocol will be used, if not, the system defaults to regular SMS. Check with your contacts to make sure they have the most current version of iOS with RCS enabled.

Try going into the message app and clear cache and data. Then restart phone see if that helps.
