Public Mobile Doesn't Seem To Be Concerned About Customers Leaving?

Hello fellow customers 🙂

I have been with Public Mobile since 2017. 8 years! I recently reached out to Support to see about dropping to a lower payment plan... the only ones available are for "New Activations Only". Their response is they definitely cannot switch (in the past they would let a customer switch if they just paid in advance for the plan...)

Seems like the agents don't care much whether customers come or go from Public Mobile... I am using up my points and then porting out, and then will port back in to a lower plan. It's just so silly. There isn't much here anymore to encourage long-term loyalty.

I basically just want text/talk... I don't want data. Other than Public, who has had good experience with Lucky Mobile? Sadly, Fizz isn't out East yet.

@RattlesnakeArmy I'm curious which plan you are on currently that you cannot downgrade?

Definitely keeping this in my back pocket for next month 🙂 I used used up 15 points to get a discount this month and will look at switching for next month. Thank you 🙂

@RattlesnakeArmy it looks like the cheapest plan offered from Public Mobile is $19 (in Ontario at least) and it comes with a very small amount of data. Phil_Adelphus suggestion of Telus is the cheapest I have seen and probably your best option. For what it's worth, I used to be on a $34 50 GB Canada-US plan and at the time the only cheaper plan for me to choose was $30 for 20 GB Canada only. I decided to give it a try and after being on that plan for almost a month they then had another cheaper plan available at $27, so if you're patient it seems you can downgrade a month at a time lol

@RattlesnakeArmy   Since you only want talk & text you might take a look at Telus's $100 a year plan (works out to $8.33 a month).  It has a current promo of unlimited talk and text plus 2GB data if you use the promo code.  After that it reverts to 400 + 400 and no data but you could always switch back to PM as a new customer then.

hi @RattlesnakeArmy

yes, it is harder to drop to a lower priced plan.  It is still possible, but you won't see all plans for sure

I am pretty sure they care, but being a Prepaid carrier, I think it is slightly different from a Postpaid carrier.  Prepaid carriers know customers come and go more often
