Porting number to new carrier abroad

I moved to Spain and didn't realize that I couldn't get roaming for 2FA while away. I want to switch to a different carrier that allows for international roaming but I still need to be able to receive a SMS from PM to confirm porting my number to a new carrier. Is there a way for PM to override this or provide another option given that I can't access 2FA while abroad.

is there any way to speak directly with a customer support agent at public mobile who can override this? Does this not exist? I wonder if Telus could help.

Unfortunately, no.

Can this wait until your next trip to Canada ? I'm assuming your account is set to Autopay so you'll continue to pay for your Public Mobile plan even though you can't use it in Spain. Do you have any plan to come back to Canada soon ?

hi @chinchilla125

you cannot do it while you are not in Canada.  You need to receive the Porting Authorization text and approve for the port to work

Only think you can do is a get a friend or family member to buy a PM sim card in Canada, change the sim card number so they can help to receive the porting authorization text and reply yes for you in Canada

once you're away from Canada, you'll have no Public Mobile service...including SMS from PM..

adding...if your move is permanent, consider deactivating your Public Mobile account and get a local network plan that includes calls to wherever you need.
