Plans - Am I Missing Something?

Seldel

Hi there - my current plan is this:

$25
/ MONTH
  • Hero Data 1GB (30-Day) - 3G
  •
  • Hero Int Text (30-Day)
  • Hero CW Talk (30-Day)
  • Hero Data 1GB (30-Day) - 3G

Now, I've noticed there's another Canada-wide plan with 6 GB of data that only costs $23/month.  It seems like it has all the features I already have and more.  Am I missing something?  Then for $4 more there seems to be $20 GB / month and unlimited calling to the US?  I just want to be sure I'm not seeing things and that it's worth switching my plan - in fact, I don't even see my plan anywhere on the list!  Is it ancient or something?

    Thanks,

Thanks for the detailed reply.  My husband and I will go with the $29 Can-US-Mexico plan as that suits our needs perfectly.  We don't need anything more complex than that one.  🙂

The only drawback I can see is you likely won't be able to downgrade if you take that plan and later decide you don't need as much data. S'up to you and your needs / lifestyle. Good deal if you can use that data...not so good if you don't use it regularly.

HI @Seldel

no drawback other than more money.  The plan has everything you have now, except with more data and the US and Mexico roaming for free

if the $4 is not a concern and you see it on your My Account, go with it!!

You can read a very lengthy discussion on this issue in the Lounge:

https://productioncommunity.publicmobile.ca/t5/The-Lounge/OMG-A-Cheaper-Plan-Became-Available-for-Cu...

The upshot is that you should switch to the cheapest plan that is currently available in your Change Subscription (i.e. from $25 to $23 in your case) and wait for for the opportunities to change to better plans in the future. Sometimes those options are better or worse than the new activations. The other option is to port out to another carrier and port back in.

PS  your current $25 1GB 3G plan is ancient. I signed up for that plan back in 2019 when I joined. Public mobile and many carriers are starting to phase out 3G. Go ahead and switch. My advice is not to be too hasty to jump to a more expensive plan because usually public mobile makes it very difficult for subscribers to downgrade to cheaper ones in the future. If you have the chance to do it now, you should grab it.

When I look, I can't see a $23 plan right now. If you wish to downgrade to that plan from your current $25...go for it. Make sure to save a screenshot in case you need it for Customer Support.

The plans I mentioned are ones I see in my subscriptions profile on the website [on my computer].

hi @Seldel

not all plans are for existing customers.  And also, each customers can only change to some plans based on the current profile.

Login My Account and go to Change subscriptions page. You might see another better $25 plan you can change to or a $26 or $29 plans.  However, you likely won't see the $23 plan  from my experience

@Seldel

to see which plans you're able to opt for, you must log in to your account. You likely won't see the $23 plan as available to you as you currently have a higher priced plan.

Some of the newer plans are unfortunately not available to existing customers.  Existing customers are offered only certain plans (usually more expensive than their present plans).

Whatever plans that you see in your self service account is what is available to you at the present time.

Hey @Seldel

If you go into your app on your phone and go to Change Subscription, there you will see a list of all the offers to you. I know it sounds weird but Public Mobile doesn't allow you to downgrade plans even though it's a prepaid service.
