Is there a way to let the network know Im still in Canada?
I'm in Ontario near the Detroit border and service was fine last night but today I got this text:
"Sorry, your current plan does not include US Roaming text messaging. To update your plan to include US Roaming texting visit publicmobile.ca/selfserve"
Solved! Go to Solution.

Roaming On/Off is in my phone settings. Data On/Off amd Data Roaming On/Off are separate settings. On every phone I've ever used, I think, even on (early) iPhones.
If Roaming is OFF then no service from foreign networks - no calls, no texts, no data. Also no timesync, no Emergency Calling (911, E911, etc), no SMS-CB alerts, no eGPS, no Device Location services... except when equivalents are "voluntarily" provided by the foreign network.
If Roaming is ON then service is available from foreign network - assuming your Plan or Add-ons allow.

I'm never seen a a setting on any phone to disable roaming, although manual network selection does accomplish that.
My iPhone SE has a "Data Roaming" toggle off / on.
but that doesn't disable roaming
