No service moto edge 2024

Rugal

So I'm posting this from the old S21 because on Friday morning I turned on my moto edge 2024 to find the dreaded "emergency calls only" messages.

I tried restarting and checking the eSim and everything was normal.

This phone had worked flawlessly on public for at least three months prior to June 20th.

So thinking the eSim was dead I used the public app to try a new eSim since it only takes two minutes.

A new eSim also did not provide service for the moto edge 2024.

Since I absolutely need my phone for work and life like everyone else I pulled the old Samsung S21 out of the drawer.

Using the public mobile app I had another new eSim on the S21 and working perfectly with 5G service within seconds.

I'm at a loss as why the moto edge 2024 suddenly lost service or was banned by IMEI or something.

It was purchased from a seller on Best buy marketplace refurbished.

So my last idea is to factory reset the moto edge 2024 and try once again with a public mobile eSim.

Not blaming public mobile service here as I am very happy with the 5G and data.

Thanks

So sure enough the IMEI of the Motorola edge 2024 "HAS BEEN" reported lost/stolen.

Definitely my fault for buying from a best buy 3rd party seller and it should be a lesson. At least it was cheap but now I will try to find the old invoice from best buy and report the seller.

Thanks again to public mobile and everyone here with replies.

hi @Rugal

if your phone has both esim and physical sim slot, it will have 2 IMEIs, make sure you check both of them.  Most the time, only one IMEI is blacklisted and the other one would still be clean

so, if you are lucky, if the esim IMEI is blacklisted and the physical one is clean, you can still use the physical sim card on the phnoe.  If that is the case, you can test with a friend's physical sim card first, if it works, then you buy a PM physical sim

good luck

Thanks for fast replies.

I will check the moto IMEI for blacklist.

Public mobile has been great and I was hesitant about eSim initially but using the app and having a new eSim is a great feature for self service.

S21 is still solid and working great so thank you

hi @Rugal

did you try to get an esim on the old S21?

you said the phone was banned by IMEI and was purchased on Marketplace? check if the phone is indeed blakclist

if it is , honest, nothing to do with PM.  PM was not the one who blacklisted your phone, it was the last carrier that this phone on with the seller

Check with BestBuy to see if their marketplace policy would protect that

the only thing PM support can help is to check which carrier put the phone onto the blacklist
