Looking for first SIM for my child, can I get a unique number with last 4 numbers as per birthday?

I can give couple of options for the last 4 numbers, if this is available.

While Public Mobile has limited choice as others have written, you can port in a number from elsewhere if you want. With that said, there are many other sources of numbers, especially landline and VoIP providers that have much more capable number search facilities which you can signup, obtain a number, then port it out.

For example:

numberbarn.com

twilio.com

voip.ms

Although consider that from a personally identifiable information standpoint, ones birthday might not be the wisest choice for a personal phone number....

@urfi40

I see you are located in Scarborough? Shipping would likely be 2 days for you then as its 5 business from Toronto to Vancouver via Canada Post.

Depending on the flash sale promotion offered by pm ( often a free 3rd month credit) you can activate with CCS with one of their discounted bundles ( up to 50% off your first month). Currently the only ongoing promotion being offered by pm is an additional 2gb of plan data added to plans $35+ when activating.

The best stacked promotion with a free month credit by pm and the CCS bundles is to activate with the $50/10.5gb plan and pay CCS for your first month either $25+tax or $30+tax ( they have changed this slightly recently so you may have to pay $30 for the $50 plan but you get an additional $5 account credit). You then downgrade your plan by making a plan change on next renewal to the $15 plan ( for example) you will then recieve a $50 account credit before your third month of service.

The math works out as follows....

Pay CCS $30+tax. You will recieve the $10 bonus referral code credit +$2 autopay reward=$13. $13+$5 account credit from CCS=$18. You downgrade the plan to $15 for the second month. $18-$15=$3. You will then recieve the $50 credit from pm. $3+$50=$53+$2 autopay reward=$55 account credit. $55-$45 (3×$15 plan renewals)=$10+$6 (3×$2 autopay)=$16-$15 (6th month renewal)=$1 in your account after 6 months of service for your initial payment to CCS for $30+tax. $30 ( or $33.90 w/tax) ÷6=$5 per month or $5.65 w/tax per month for the first 6 months.

You can add the promocode 2GBBONUS until June 30th as well and you can hotspot the data from your childs account ( 10.5gb+2gb=12.5gb) for that first month so as to not let it go to waste or let them go crazy and watch lots of TikTok videos for the first month.😃

@urfi40

I dont know for sure but dealers may have no greater ability to choose from a big list of numbers or actually enter the first part of a number to see all available numbers in that group than what we have as a customer. If so the dealer you mention knowing the limitations probably instantly saw himself trying again a and again and again for the next several hours to get the likely small set up fee they receive from PM since PM has no locked in contracts and no high priced cell phone sales. PM is a third tier low level provider for a low monthly cost which explains some of the lack of interest in things like helping you select a specific phone number.

References here to only changing numbers once and apparently now 4 times per 30 day period refers t o actually choosing and changing your number. You can scrol through lists back and forth to try to get new options as often as you want to.

@darlicious mention of changing to a different area and back is generally for larger metropolitan areas as opposed to smaller cities and towns. In Greater Vancouver we can choose numbers that are Vancouver, New Westminster, Richmond, Langley, etc which all have the same calling area and ability to be called from landlines within those areas. Thus you could take a look at available numbers in each of them and choose any without consequence. Just don't pick a number that isn't local to your area as people calling you from a landline will likely have to pay long distance to call you.

AE_Collector

@urfi40, if you haven't activated yet there will be a spot in the activation process where a list of numbers will be presented you should also have an option to search for numbers.  So you might bet lucky and find the numbers you are looking for

Thanks,

I live a bit too far from North York. Can you explain this a bit more ?

""""They offer bundled discounts that stack with pm flash sale promotions"""

Thanks

@urfi40

Perhaps you should look at Canadian Cell Supplies. They have a shop in North York ( not sure of your current COVID-19 restrictions atm) with pick up in Mississauga as well. They offer bundled discounts that stack with pm flash sale promotions and a free sim card or they sell unactivated sim cards for $4.99. Many of us have ordered and/or activated with them so they do come recommended.

@softech Mayor, Thanks. I only got my own number first. I will go and get another one for my child tomorrow, as I had no idea how would I get a unique number. The PM shop at Morningside and Sheppard just refused to help. So I will get from another shop and follow what you suggested. Thanks

@softech

As noted by @Anonymous this has recently changed. You can now change your phone number up to 4 times per 30 days.

@urfi40 , please note if you decide to use the Change Number feature, this can only be done once within every 30 days cycle.

Hope you can find the number you want from the pool very soon.

my best advice is to activate the account using a temporary number , or you are already activated and then contact the moderator team to check if there is any number that you might like it,

and you can try it be yourself go to change your number
up to 4 times on a 30 days period.

 @urfi40 : And an expanded limitation was introduced not long ago. You can complete a number change 4 times in 30 days now. It used to be just once.

@urfi40

Do you currently have a pm account? If so you can view possible phone numbers in your account. You are not commited to change your number so you can view the current numbers available to you. Just don't choose one.....for your own account.

Excellent !!

@urfi40

The number change option will give you 6 options. You can then pick another area in your region to pull up another 6. You can then return to your oiginal area ( exchange) and try again. You can continue to do this as long as you like.

@darlicious Mayor. Thanks. So I can do 1 attempt each day? and Cannot do multiple attempts in one day ??

@urfi40

With some diligence you can likely come up with a number combination that suits your needs. New numbers are released each morning so you can try several days in a row if at first you don't succeed.

Excellent !. I will try it now.

Thanks, i will try it. The Robot SIMon never transfer to any moderator. I will initiate the ticket and lets see what happens. I wish there would be a chat with a live person. I am new to PM and don't know the tricks here.

Yes, there is a change number option on your Self-Serve page.

@softechMayor, thanks. I contacted the Public Mobile Shop but he just plainly refused. There is absolutely no customer service of PM and just a Robot keep revolving you around. So as per your advice, can I change the number online, after signing in my account ? Thx

@urfi40  have you activated with Public yet?   If so, you can use the change number option.  No, you can't type what you want, but you can keep changing until you see the number you want or try it back the other day.  Not a great way but it's doable, slow way

Not sure if Mod would help, but I doubt it.  Can anyone comment on that?
