Phone sees the phone number of the SIM and the APN seems to be configured properly but no signal. Is there a workaround ?

Hi.
I facing the same issue with Oukitel,
Some mobile operators are delivering me an internet at the high speed, but I'm not able to talk.
the Rogers let me talk and SMS, but very sporadic LTE internet connection.
Could you please disclose a bit more information why I can't talk with a help of certain operators, and can talk with the Rogers for ex?
Thanks.

@adronis The easiest way to check is as follows:
Check under 3G bands should support B2 and B5
Check under 4G bands should support B4 and B7.
If a device supports the above bands the it will be a good fit.

Thanks, this is the answer. I need those frequencies. I'm still confused about all the different names for the signals though. Some say PM is using UMTS instead of WCDMA and also 850 and 1900 are found in GSM. I have also seen HSPA+ appear on some of my phones. Can anyone help my clarify this ?

And they're going to be obsoleting their 2G GSM soon.

@adronis this is the problem. You need a phone with W-CDMA 850 and 1900 MHz to use here.

Pretty much useless phone in Canada. Expensive mp3 player. See if you can return it as it would be pretty hard to sell.

You're showing all the same info. It's not enough just to say it's 3G or WCDMA or 4G or LTE. It's more about the frequencies and bands used.

That's just one part of Public Mobile. And in this case only one of the Public Mobile frequencies used. To use your phone as a phone, it needs to have a couple 3G/WCDMA/UMTS/HSDPA frequencies. This phone does not.
So as I said, if you can find and connect to a tower transmitting on that one frequency and LTE protocol then you could use your data and SMS and MMS.

It is a 4G LTE phone

@adronis I know that compatibility has been discussed but some of us also seem to be forgetting that APN settings are not needed to be set to connect to a cellular network.

The only compatible 4G band is band 6 which is not that popular. So that is why you are seeing the phone trying to connect but likely not succeeding because there is no tower with band 7 nearby. When buying what I can non traditional brands, always make sure that there is band 4 LTE. This band is a North American favorite. If it is available, then 3G compatibility is assured.

If you only wish to use the 4G data and SMS and MMS and you're picking up a tower transmitting at the one frequency shown earlier then you should be able to connect. But you won't be able to do talk.

@adronis that phone does not have the needed 3g bands to work with Public Mobile. Your going to need another phone.

According to this website. The specs of your phone are not compatible with Public Mobile. You will need to get another phone that is compatible.

Also this old thread from 2019 another person could not get it working.
