If you purchase a Public Mobile SIM card, upon activation, you will have the option to port your number. You will just need your phone's IMEI number or your Telus account number, and you will be able to authorize the transfer (keep the old SIM in your phone until Telus sends you a text to confirm).

If you still have active service with telus you can do this thru the change number function in your account and by putting the telus sim in your phone to redpond YES to the porting authorization text.
If you have not cancelled your telus account you can contact the moderators or the telus porting department with your telus account # and request the port. I will private message you the phone number.

@jsnizzle Purchase a PM SIM available at retailers like Walmart (often they require you to activate instore and may not sell the SIM outright) or London Drugs or PM/Koodo Kiosk and then proceed to activate your SIM/account and then you will get an option to transfer your number. SIMs can also be ordered from the PM website but they seem to take a more than a couple of weeks to receive. You can order from canadiancellsupplies.com and usually the deliveries arrive within one week.
Here's a link to activation: https://activate.publicmobile.ca/
You will also need to keep your current SIM in your phone to receive and authorize any transfer request and keep the account active.
Edit: @jsnizzle In addition to the link that @Bronniep provided, you may also want to read through this post by PM management: https://productioncommunity.publicmobile.ca/t5/Announcements/Transferring-or-Changing-your-Phone-Num...
