Where's the $30 price coming from?Carriers do it for free as mentioned, and unlocks from third parties can be any price.

Your present phone may be broken or not compatible with PM. You can purchase an unlocked phone at Staples, Best Buy, Walmart, The Source, etc. They do advertise sales on unlocked phones.

buy a unlocked phone and put the sim card in, if you want to keep all your settings, apps and notes, there are apps to copy to your new phone.
