I have a VPN on my android phone, how do I activate it on my plan as per setup steps

If my LG phone (android) is working with data, do I still have to set the data up?  I have a VPN, so set up steps do not seem to work?  What now?

I'm confused by the question. You're answering yourself inside the question.

VPN is a separate internet service unrelated (usually) to the ISP (ie. this place). Think of cell data service as a mobile ISP like home internet services.

So is there a problem with the VPN? Perhaps take that up with the VPN outfit.

I have a VPN on my phone and it works fine via PM.

A phone reset may be a likely solution when difficulties arise.

once your account is set up with whatever plan you chose. Try to restart  your phone.
That might do the trick. It worked for me.

Try doing a Network reset.
