To whom it may concern (HOW CAN I CANCEL MY ACCOUNT!?!!) :
PM has turned into the ‘Hotel California’ –
"We are programmed to receive
You can check-out any time you like
BUT YOU CAN NEVER LEAVE!"
For one month, I had signed up for a second line to provide to a visitor of mine.
I have since tried to cancel the account … while sign up options are everywhere …
PM doesn’t seem to want to let me leave. (And just to mention, I develop software for a living, making me somewhat teck-savvy!)
The login is glitchy, (bumps me every 3 minutes) … and after changing my password (copied and pasted from my password manager, so no typose here) the login screen does not recognize it … and eventually suspends my login. (Password update time lag, who wrote your 'back-end' ???)
Really … any HONEST company would have an easily accessible CANCEL BUTTON on their account page … but … yeah ... that may not apply here
Some posts suggest that one needs to remove once’s credit card from the account/auto-pay and it would be automatically expire after 90 days, but … that may no longer be possible. Here is a clip of my Payment Method update screen.
NOTE THE BOTTOM COMMENT SAYING:
Please note that your payment method cannot be removed unless an alternative payment method is provided.
I spent a good chunk of time trying to finally rid myself of this (second) account, but after being locked out of the account (again, it appears my password reset did not take actual effect for a loooong time), may have missed the deadline to cancel the account.
I would like to get reliable steps:
- to CANCEL my account
- to get binding acknowledgement of my cancellation
- to delete my credit card from my account, without providing another (after cancellation I should be able to do this, I will check with CRTC if necessary to see how to enforce this). If that is not easily possible, I will leave an explicit instruction with my credit card company to reject any further billings by PM.
Also, for others in my position – I have grown sick of PM under Telus. My (and YOUR!) loyalty points have been eroded (after having a primary account for 6 plus years) and they are being eroded further as we speak – and the strategic lack of access to direct support is wearing on me.
So, with other great providers out there, who offer competitive products (e.g. PC Mobile backed by Bell and with REAL support), or Rogers plans I have access to via friends, I will likely PORT my primary account elsewhere, if PM does not reimburse me for the additional month of subscription fees I will likely incur for the second 'uncancellable' accoun ('only' $20, but a question of PRINCIPLE). I will keep you posted about the non-PM deals I can find. Cheers fellow PM-(suffer)ers 😄

I'm just going through the same issues you are. And I've had it! I'm canceling two cell accounts and when my Telus cable / internet contract, when it comes due. Disgusting. Shame on Telus the owner of public mobile.

1. You can suspend your account and after 90 days will auto cancel your account.
2. You can port out your number and will auto cancel your account.
3. If you are concerned about leaving your CC information on your account, buy a prepaid master card, or use an exhausted one, replace your card online with the prepaid card. Buy something with the prepaid card and all is done. There is a cost of $5 or so for the prepaid card.

@ditching_PM Easiest way to unsubscribe (cancel) : in the app, go to SUBSCRIPTION // MANAGE SUBSCRIPTION // SUBSCRIPTION RENEWAL // and click UNSUBSCRIBE. This will prevent future payments from hitting your card and cease account activity. Consider this though, if you want to keep your existing phone number and go to a competitor provider, you can simply port over to them and your account will be closed at the time of departure as well.
And then, you will “hear those voices calling from far away” (eagles) Hope this helps

No recommended but you can dispute the PM charges. Warning that any future payments must be paid with vouchers for a year. Also this maybe an issue if you decide to go with Telus or Koodo as potential carriers.
