How do I stop marketing calls to my phone #?

Hello,

In the past 2 weeks I've received over 50 random marketing calls from all weird numbers and they are driving me crazy. Clearly my phone # has been sold to a whole bunch of companies.  Is there a way I can put a stop to this?

I know I've called others, where I have to press 1 before the call goes through to prove I'm not a bot, how do I set that up or does anyone have better suggestions to stop these calls?  I've been blocking them all, however I keep getting calls from all different numbers.

Let me know.

Thanks so much

Melissa

Thank you - I will set for "contacts only".

unfortunately this happens to everyone now, there are a lot of fake/spam calls and texts in todays world, happens to every carrier/service.  You can go into your phone and individually block the numbers if they repeatedly call/text you, but there is no way to 100% prevent new random numbers from calling.
Personally, i just dont answer any number i dont recognize/have saved in my phone, and will contact them back if they leave a voicemail/text.

HI @jumblbug1

iphone or android? maybe you can enable "Silence Unknown Callers" features.  But you need to keep a very good contacts for that to work well

if legit marketing calls, you an put yourself on National do not call list

https://lnnte-dncl.gc.ca/en

but if spammers, there is really nothing much you can do. If it is a new number, then maybe you want to get a new number

@jumblbug1   You can set your phone to ring for "contacts only" but some will stay on long enough to get to voicemail.  Blocking numbers seems to be a waste of time these days, they  just call from another one. There are apps you can get for Android, and iPhone has Live Voicemail which makes it easier to deal with them.

@jumblbug1 we just had a similar post a few hours ago. Long story short, there's not much you can do but have a look at the other post below:
