Heading to US for a day trip.....

I was thinking of heading to the US for a day trip on the 4th. I don't have US calling or anything and the only thing I see is a 15 day $15 plan. My Telus is $14 for a day trip. I may make 1 or 2 calls or text messages but not sure it's even worth these two options. Anyone else got any suggestions?

I've ordered a TextNow SIM card through a friend in the US but won't come in time. Will use it next time I'm in the US.

Thanks and look forward to the suggestions.

I have the TextNow SIM in my phone and it works great on 4G and 5G...all for free without wifi.

If you are just making one or two calls or a text. It is not worth the add-on. If you haven't downloaded the TextNow app, go ahead and download the app then pick the area code and one of the roam number. You can still use the number through wifi. Lots of free wifi around to make you call or text...Costco now have free wifi.

Well, you will be able to receive texts in the USA without any roaming packages.  Maybe use Wifi to call or text back with other Apps, like Textnow

For a day trip, the 15 day roaming packages are somewhat of a waste, but $15 gives you peace of mind to be able to call and text if needed.

@Chalupa_Batman if your phone has eSIM , look into Travel eSIM.  Example, Airalo , 7 days for 1GB data only for $4.50 US. Then use VoIP app TextNow to make and receive voice calls
