Forest fire relief

Hello. I was wondering if there are any unlimited data resources for those trapped in a forest fire zone? I am currently on orders to stay hunkered down in the North Shuswap, BC Canada and we have a pretty bad forest fire situation happening. Our power and internet went out Fri. Aug. 18 and my data is quickly running out. Please advise.

Hi Everyone,

I've reached out to CS myself to see if there is an offer similar to the offer below from Telus and Koodo. There is no offer at this time. Hope this helps answer this question and any future questions in our forums.

Sorry @LavenderandJade think the only option IMO is to bump up to a higher level plan until things go back to normal and then switch back. I would not advise against porting out then porting back in later. It's a lot of work and you will lose any loyalty bonuses you may have.

Take care and stay frosty!

You're amazing! Thank you so much.

Thank you! How do I contact a CSA agent please?

@LavenderandJade

please be aware that even mobile service could be interrupted because of the wildfire situation.

At this moment, there is an Active outage in Lytton, BC due to the wildfire

With past situations with natural disasters, even though Public mobile did not announce any formal help, some customers were able to contact customer service agent. CSA may be able to offer some help.  YMMV. No guarantees.

Great minds think a like @computergeek541

I was just thinking that Public Mobile does have plans that include uniimited data, but you'd have to swtich your plan. If you change the plan so that it takes effect immediately, there will be no partial refund for the amounts paid for the old plan and the full amount for the new plan would also be due immeidately.  For these plans, the data is slowed down to 512Kbps (quite slow) but it would keep working even after the advertised full speed data amount has been used up.

The only option is to forfeit what plan you have now and jump on a plan that has a huge data allotment and then once things go back to normal, switch back to a lower account that suits your needs. Just know you may not be able to get exactly what you have now.

Either the $45 plan that has 30GB 40GB or 50GB plan.
