Deadzones, slow speeds with full bars

Just migrated to Public. Noticing that I have a lot of deadzones in the lower mainland (greater Vancouver). This happens even when it is showing my connection has full or near full bars.

Running on a new Oneplus 12R made for North American market. Had no problems on Rogers prior to this.

hi @JoshP83

instead of auto switch, manually change to 4G and test.  In my experience, in some "weak zone", manually change network mode and pick the best network is better

This has been the most useful but did not completely solve my problem. It did improve it greatly though.

Yes it's on auto switching

Is this when your phone is in 5G? There are still many areas even in urban settings where 5G has not been fully deployed or it's signal is weak. The 4G LTE network is much more comprehensive.  Make sure your phone's network settings are on automatic so that they switch to the network with the strongest signal. You may need to toggle airplane mode on/off occasionally to re-establish the best connection to the network.

Telus actually has great network in BC, better than Rogers

your problem is likely APN related.  OnePlus is picky with APN

please first make sure you have the latest OS.  Then Reset network settings could resolve it

if not, update APN as follow:

APN: sp.mb.com
MMSC: http://aliasredirect.net/proxy/mb/mmsc
MMSC proxy: mmscproxy.mobility.ca
MMS port: 8799
MCC: 302
MNC: 220
APN Type: default,supl,mms

Having dead zones is unrelated to APN settings.  Changes in APN settings cannot possibly cause a network to be unavailable, and while there are some type of priority settings for APN type, these settings are also highly unilkely to have any effect on data speeds.

Maybe but my wife is on public with no issues, it's why I switched.
