Daily data counter not matching the home page meter

Any one else noticing the data meter on the home screen in the app does not match the daily data counters. My meter says I used .91 Gb so far this period but when I add up daily usage from the history page I only get about 500 Mb. Support agent not understanding whats going on so just says upgrade plan for more data... so frustrating... the agent is making no sense in the responses. FYI, the 100MB will  show there in the usage but it does not really eat up your usage bucket, ie, you will still be using the full 250MB every cycle

Ok so I didn't know that Public mobile grabs 100 Mb chunks (buffer) from ones data bucket before you use it then grabs another 100 Mb when the last one is used up. Since I'm such a chincy data user I noticed where most people that use much greater amounts would never notice a 100 Mb usage either way but for me it was 20% of my subscription data. Thankis everyone for their input and apologies if I offended anyone but as far I can tell nobody really knew anything about the 100Mb buffer thing including CS_agents. Another user made me aware of it in a private message.

lol @ "to your advantage" your math is really bad. Anyway. I am going to the new 18 dollar plan but they are not going to stop hearing from me if they pad my data usage like they have been for months now. I had tons of bonus data saved up from the old days and their crappy accounting burned through that pretty fast in the last few months

you used 500Mb, which is 0.5GB, you used 0.42GB on the addon, 0.5+0.42 = 0.92?  Yes, it should show 0.92/ 1.49, but it only shows 0.91 /1.49, so it is incoorect to your advantage for 100Mb 🙂

If you don't think you have enough data, I think you need to get a better plan too

you have a $15 - 500Mb plan?  it is going to be $18 after Oct 31 if you do nothing.   But there is a better plan, $18 for 1GB.  i would use Change on Renewal to schedule a plan change since you pretty much paying the same amount but with another 500Mb.  With the 500Mb extra, maybe there is no confusion of the usage anymore

I agree with others in saying that Odometer is reporting it correct. Your monthly data is 500MB which is fully used up. Also, it shows 0.91/1.49 total GB. This includes your monthly data allowance as well as any add-on data remaining. If you ignore the data add-on usage, it would show 500MB/500MB.

the meter is correct.  The meter tells you the total usable data you have at this time, it has a sum of the current month usage plus those non-expiry addon

yours show 0.91/1.49 GB.  The total is 1.49, as you know, you don't have 1.49 new GB of daily each cycle.  The 1.49 is a total of the 500 Mb monthly cycle  plus the 1GB promo.  Since the base is a total of the current + the non-expiring addon, the "top part" of this fraction is also a total of the monthly usage (500 Mb used) plus the data used on the non-expiring addon (0.42GB)

I would say it is not a good representation of the usage but I would not say it is incorrect.  It is surely showing the correct info

HI @AVTIE 

this is how this breakdown means.:

  • The 500/500Mb used were used during this cycle (Sept 15 to Oct 15)
  • the 0.42/1GB , together with the Long disstance minutes 49/200 Mins and 842/1000 mins, are not  usage for this month, they are the total usage from the first day you got these addons.  

Since you just used up the 500Mb of your monthly usage and the usage history (506.66Mb)  confirmed that, I think everything looks good and correct

 

 According to the Usage History, it clearly shows you only used 500 Mb from Sept 15 to now, so what you see showing 461 Mb on the phone matches the 506.66 (there is a slight difference, 40Mb or so, which is normal)

If you are thinking about why there is the 0.42GB used on the 1GB add-on, those was used on previous cycle.  If you still unsure, ask PM to help.  Use this link to message them

First, PM won't bill you more unless you paying to buy extra add-on yourself.  Your data will stop working once all data are used up, you can't keep using it and hence no overage charges 

I still think the 400Mb on the 1GB were used before this cycle but it is best for you to discuss with PM yourself 

On the other hand , if you have an Android phone, you can go back and track your usage of this cycle by changing the Cycle start date of the mobile data usage on the phone back to 15th and it will show you how much data you used since according to the phone tracker itself.

It is not the same because your 400 MB used on the previous 1GB add-on was not used between Sept 15 to today.  They were used before Sept 15 and your total was only adding from Sept 15

On the other hand, the Overview page keep track of the usage from the old add-on.

The whole problem is the counter meter and the actual data usage don't equal they are supposed to equal. My usage and the counter on the home screen are supposed to be equal and they are not. Public mobile is saying im using almost twice as much data as I actually am

Like in this case , the screenshot below, the odometer on overview page would should 1.11GB/56GB.  But clicking on the Usage Breakdown link (not the Usage History page) would show how the 1.11 comes up, only 0.13 from current month of 50GB, and he add up usage from Usage History page on  this cycle , he would see 0.13 only as well (i.e, the 0.98 used in previous data add-on would not show usage history for this cycle but would show on the Overview page)

The usage history shows only this month usage 

The 0.91 is the total of usage from two sources,   0.4 from the 1GB old data add-on and the 0.5 GB (500 Mb) you used up this month

Click the Usage Breakdown below the Usage Odometer and you will see what I meant (what you shows about the entries of the usage is NOT what I asked to to past for usage breakdown)

I did post the data usage spreadsheet I made from the history page. It says i only used about 500 Mb

 

500 for this month plus 400 from the old promo, then the math is right about 0.91 used.  

Click Usage Breakdown below the Usage Odometer and it will show that breakdown,  or post us the screenshot of what you see after you click Usage Breakdown

I'm on 500 Mb plan so it used up all the 500 about a week ago and 400 or so from an old promo add on I had. I only actually used about 500 Mb so far this month wich the history page proves and also my phone setting data counter says about the same...

Do you have only 1GB monthly data? I see you have 1.49GB total data, look like you have 500Mb data from another data add-on.

  The 0.91GB included those used for those 1GB from the current month as well as the used data from the other add-on.  Click Usage Breakdown and you will see how much from the two

Also, the usage history is only updated once or twice around midnight, as a title usage of the day while the usage odometer is the most updated usage.  So, what you see in the usage odometer will be slightly higher as the current day usage not posted in Usage history page yet

I realize that but the delay is only a day or so. The difference is way to big for that to be the issue... I use very little mobile data

There is a delay in the more detailed usage results. Data usage is not shown in that last until it gets updated once or twice daily.
